Seminar: The Art of Writing in Social Media

In an era where social media dominates the digital landscape, mastering the art of crafting engaging and persuasive content is essential for businesses and individuals alike. Recognizing this need, a seminar titled “The Art of Writing in Social Media” was held on Friday, March 22, 2024, offering some Petranesians valuable insights and strategies for creating impactful content. A Collaboration event hosted by PCU Library and UKM Menulis Kreatif, the seminar featured esteemed guest speaker Putu M. Wijaya, an expert in the field of User Experience (UX) writing and the Lead UX Writer at tiket.com. Wijaya, an alumnus of DKV PCU Batch 2010, brought a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the event. The seminar also served as a platform for participants to engage in interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, allowing participants to gain further insights and clarification on specific topics related to social media content creation. Overall, the seminar on “The Art of Writing in Social Media” proved to be a valuable resource for marketers, content creators, and anyone looking to harness the power of social media for effective communication and engagement. With the guidance of experts like Putu M. Wijaya, attendees left equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to elevate their social media presence and captivate their audience effectively.
Community Service: Yayasan Cinta Baca Sidoarjo

Led by Mr. Gunawan Tanuwidjaja, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IAI. (lecturer from Architecture PCU) and a collaboration with PCU Library, we take initiative saw to impart valuable literacy skills to the children of Yayasan Cinta Baca Sidoarjo. The event not only showcased the commitment of the PCU community to making a positive difference but also highlighted the importance of education and community engagement especially in terms of increasing literacy awareness of young generation. Under the guidance of Mr. Gunawan Tanuwidjaja, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IAI. PCU Architecture students engaged with the children through interactive sessions, aimed at fostering a love for reading and learning. From storytelling sessions to educational learning and games, the activities were designed to be both enriching and enjoyable, creating a nurturing environment for the young learners. The event at Yayasan Cinta Baca Sidoarjo served as a reminder of the power of education to transform lives and strengthen communities.
Exhibition: Falling In Love With PCU Library

As students return to campus after the holiday break, PCU Library extends a warm welcome with its latest exhibition, “Falling In Love With PCU Library.” Designed to celebrate both the joy of coming back to campus and the spirit of the month of love, February, this exhibition offers a captivating glimpse into the heart of our library. Within the exhibition, Petranesians will find a visual journey through PCU Library’s historic moments, vibrant events, and outstanding student creations. The exhibition doubles as a showcase of PCU Library’s wide range of services and resources. From research assistance to literacy information classes, Petranesians are invited to explore many library services to support their academic pursuits and personal growth.
Launching: Chinese Ornament Christmas Tree 2023

During the Christmas celebration of 2023, PCU Library proudly presented a unique and meaningful Christmas tree named the “Chinese Ornament Christmas Tree.” This Christmas tree embodies the rich cultural spirit of Christmas, depicting the diversity and beauty of Chinese traditions. It was created in accordance with this year’s University Christmas theme, “Chinese Culture.” Standing at approximately 7 meters tall, the Christmas tree was meticulously crafted by PCU Library staff. It consists of 183 Chinese ornament fans and 205 lanterns. The process of making these ornaments involved dedicated work over approximately 1 week. These ornaments are not merely decorations but serve as representations of deep cultural significance. The dominant red color of the Christmas tree holds profound meaning. Red symbolizes luck, joy, and happiness. More than just a color, red on the Chinese Ornament Christmas Tree becomes a symbol of the presence of the Savior, Jesus Christ, who was born into the world to bring joy to all nations. Through this Christmas tree, PCU Library aims to provide a unique Christmas experience, embracing cultural diversity, and depicting the spirit of joy inspired by the birth of Christ. With this Christmas tree, it is hoped to unite various traditions in the Christmas spirit and welcome the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior.
#BookTalk: Meaning Behind The Differences Between Men and Women

#Booktalk series is an initiative where Petranesians, as students of PCU are affectionately known, come together to discuss thought-provoking books and exchange insights with peers and members of the wider community. This edition of #Booktalk takes a unique approach by inviting high school students undergoing internship programs at PCU Library to join the conversation. This collaboration not only enriches the discourse but also provides valuable learning opportunities for all participants involved. Together, they delve into the insights provided by John Gray in his book “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus,” sharing their own experiences in relationships.
