In the 21st century, the role of a teacher is increasingly complex, not only providing material and guidance in mastering the competencies mandated by the curriculum but also having to shape students to have good characters who respect moral and spiritual values. On the one hand, school librarians can synergize with class teachers and subject teachers in teaching subjects and teaching information literacy skills so that students do not only use information technology, especially social media, to do negative things but instead use it to improve their academic and personal abilities.
21st century teachers must have high creativity and innovation to be able to fulfill the learning services that will be provided to their students. 21st century teachers must change their teaching style from the old way to a more communicative and inspiring teaching style in order to meet the increasingly complex needs of students. Intellectual, digital, social and academic skills are not enough. Educating is a long-term process to produce people with character, honesty, and independence. In the context of the educational process, an educator must be able to follow the flow of developments in the 21st century.
