On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Petra Christian University (PCU) Library had the pleasure of welcoming special guests from Yayasan Pendidikan Autis Mutiara Hati, Sidoarjo. This visit was part of the library’s ongoing efforts to support inclusivity and provide a welcoming learning space for everyone, including friends from the disability community.

During the visit, participants engaged in a series of fun, light activities designed to introduce basic literacy in an enjoyable way. Activities included singing and dancing together, listening to a storytelling session, reading picture books, and coloring with guidance. All activities were carefully prepared to encourage positive interaction and make the library experience joyful and engaging for the participants.

As an academic library, PCU Library offers not only academic collections, but also open spaces for learning, exploring ideas, and interacting with others. This visit was a valuable opportunity to introduce the concept of a library through direct and meaningful experience.

The success of this event was made possible through the collaboration of many parties. We extend our sincere thanks to the students from the Elementary Teacher Education (PGSD) and Early Childhood Teacher Education (PGPAUD) program who enthusiastically supported and guided the participants throughout the activities. Special appreciation also goes to Mr. Gunawan Tanuwidjaja, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IAI, lecturer from the Architecture Department at PCU, and his team, who graciously accompanied and supported the participants during the event.

Through this program, PCU Library reaffirms its commitment to being an inclusive and welcoming learning space, one that embraces diversity and provides joyful literacy experiences for all, including children with special needs.
