Launching: Windmolen Kerstboom 2024

The Windmolen Kerstboom or “Windmill Christmas Tree” was officially launched with a fun and lively event filled with music, activities, and cheerful moments for everyone. The Christmas tree is a symbol of joy and celebration in welcoming the birth of Christ. For Christmas 2024, Petra Christian University presents the “Windmolen Kerstboom” or Windmill Christmas Tree with a Dutch cultural theme. This tree is not only a work of art but also carries profound meaning.

Constructed from the library’s collection of books, magazines, and audio-visual media, this Christmas tree serves as a reminder of the importance of literacy and credible sources of information in generating ideas and inspiration. Just as Dutch windmills pump and channel water from lowlands to rivers and surrounding farmlands to sustain life, the library’s collection provides valuable knowledge and inspiration for its readers, reflecting Christ’s birth as the ultimate hope for the world.

This unique Christmas tree is made from approximately 930 books, 50 magazines, and 120 DVDs/VCDs, symbolizing the richness of knowledge and the library’s role in supporting academic and personal growth.
