Hybrid Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence and Disinformation”

The hybrid seminar aims to address the challenges and opportunities brought by the latest advancements in AI, such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, in combating disinformation ahead of Indonesia’s pivotal 2024 election. This seminar holds significant importance for Indonesia’s democratic process and the integrity of the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Disinformation campaigns can undermine trust in institutions, manipulate public opinion, destabilize the electoral environment, and influence election outcomes.

An open discussion on the role of AI in both spreading and combating disinformation will foster transparency, innovation, and collaboration, enabling policymakers, technology experts, and citizens to work together to ensure fair and accurate elections, thus upholding the nation’s democratic values.

By bringing together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders, the seminar will encourage dialogue, knowledge sharing, and the development of innovative approaches to counter disinformation during the election campaign. Participants will benefit from insights and recommendations that can be shared with students and fellow faculty members. Media representatives will gain new tools for fact-checking and verification, while civil society organizations can strengthen their efforts in promoting media literacy and public awareness.
