Science Film Festival 2018 “Revolusi Pangan: Mengatasi Tantangan 2050”

When we think about threats to the environment, our minds usually go to cars or urban areas, not the food on our plates. Yet, humanity’s need for food is actually one of the most serious environmental threats facing the planet. The 2018 Science Film Festival aims to highlight the issue of nutrition and the challenge of feeding a rapidly growing global population, one of the biggest obstacles to the future sustainability of human life.

library@petra, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, is once again hosting the Science Film Festival, with this year’s theme: “Food Revolution: Facing 2050 Challenges” The festival features a variety of activities, including screenings of science films on the theme of “Food Revolution,” designed especially for school students in Surabaya. These screenings are accompanied by science experiment demonstrations, workshops, and a presentation competition.

In addition, visitors can explore an engaging exhibition at Auditorium Hall EH Building, 2nd Floor, Petra Christian University, which showcases information on healthy food versus fast food, creative ways to reuse kitchen waste, alternative energy from food (including a hands-on experiment demo), hydraulic bridge systems, and innovations that harvest energy from parking pressure pads.
